  • Relax! There's no need for any special preparations.

  • Unless advised otherwise, continue taking all your medications as prescribed. No changes necessary.
  • Normal Eating and Drinking:
  • Enjoy your regular meals and beverages without any restrictions. There's no need to alter your eating or drinking habits.

Understanding the Process: Your ECG Examination

At our cardiology clinic, your Electrocardiogram (ECG) will be conducted by a male cardiac physiologist, a specialised professional distinct from a doctor. Here's what the procedure involves:

Preparation and Attire:

  • You will be requested to undress to the waist and put on a gown, open to the front, ensuring ease of access for the examination.

Comfortable Positioning:

  • Lie on your back on a comfortable couch as the physiologist prepares for the test.

Chaperone Options:

  • Should you desire a chaperone, feel free to bring a friend or relative. Alternatively, we offer the option for CardioLabs to provide one at your request.

Hair Removal Consideration:

  • For optimal electrode adhesion, some chest hairs may need to be gently removed.

Electrode Placement:

  • Stickers known as electrodes will be strategically attached to your arms, chest, and legs. These are then connected to the ECG machine by wires.

Relaxation Period:

  • You will be asked to relax and stay perfectly still during the recording, ensuring accurate and clear results. The entire process usually takes only a few minutes.

Priority on Modesty:

  • Maintaining your modesty is a top priority throughout the examination, ensuring your comfort and dignity.
